trustworthy applications that address
human rights
NEW DATE: 28 – 29 July 2023 | Online
By participating in the ONTOCHAIN Hackathon #1, you have the opportunity to develop a blockchain-based application that promotes human rights and contributes to a more secure and trustworthy Internet.
Apply to tackle one out of the five challenges below, all related to human rights:
Challenge #1: Digital identity management and privacy
Provide a secure and user-friendly way for individuals and organisations to manage their digital identities.
Challenge #2: Certificates management (passports, driver’s licenses, diplomas, tax certificates)
Simplify interactions of citizens with public administration. Facilitate the federation of data available by different administration bodies and nations, whilst leaving the full control of its data by any data owner.
Challenge #3: Medical records management
Leverage patients generated data in a trusted, decentralised way, with suitable privacy support.
Challenge #4: Social Responsibility
Address common goods, community-based fundraising, support charity activities, support minorities/ refugees, addressing energy poverty..
Challenge #5: Open topic
Suggest a blockchain-based application to empower human rights for any other relevant domains.
If selected, your application must be developed on top of at least two of the ONTOCHAIN services developed on the ONTOCHAIN software platform - check them at the “Your Hackathon Kit” section below.
We don’t look for complete mature applications, but the implementation for most fundamental scenarios.
Hackathon #2: Developing
trustworthy applications for commerce
& other services
NEW DATE: 04 – 05 August 2023 | Online
By participating in the ONTOCHAIN Hackathon #2, you have the opportunity to develop a blockchain-based application that drives efficiency and transparency in commerce and other services.

Other useful information
Participants selection
Each hackathon will accept up to 20 teams. Only one application per team can be accepted for each Hackathon.
The teams acceptance will be made based on:
- Criteria 1 (Weighting - 30%) - How you can benefit from the ONTOCHAIN software platform
- Criteria 2 (Weighting - 40%) - Application idea (relevance, creativity, innovation and originality, application screenshots/mockups, user experience)
- Criteria 3 (Weighting - 30%) - Team credibility (professional experience, past projects, academic activities, grades, degrees, lines of codes in open-souce projects, any other related activities)
Notes:
- Criteria will be scored using a scale of 1 - Very Insufficient to 5 - Excellent
- A team can apply for both Hackathons, but can only be accepted in one. In case the team ranks among the top 20 applications for both Hackathons, it will be accepted only at the one in which it ranks higher
- In case of a tie, priority will be given to the application first submitted.
Attendance requirements
- Each team is responsible for bringing their own computers
- Participants must have a good/stable Wi-Fi connection
Hackathons winners
The solutions developed as part of each ONTOCHAIN Hackathon will be evaluated according to 5 criteria:
